How,when &/or why did you being blogging?
I started blogging in 2009. I started entering giveaways and I started seeing how other bloggers can have a steady income and stay at home with their kids. I fell in love with the idea and I started my own blog from there. I researched on my own and bought my own domain and made my own graphics. It took about a year to get things where I wanted. I love doing what I do!
How did you choose your blog’s title?
My blog’s title is The Small Things. My husband and daughter always do small things that make my day. I believe that it is “The Small Things” that matter the most in life. That is how I came up with it.
What are your preferred blogging topics?
I love product reviews because I can recommend products that I trust. I know that other parents can trust my opinion so that they can read about it before buying. I am trying to be better in the DIY topic. I am slowly adding more. Giveaways would be my favorite topic. Who doesn’t love winning things?!
What are your three favorite blog posts or 3 blog posts are you most proud of and why?
My three favorite blog posts are more recent. My first pick was sharing my battle with finding out our daughter, Aubrey had her fatal birth defect. I am proud of this blog post because I have received hundreds of emails thanking me for my decision to not only carry her, but my decision to be brave enough to share our story and educate. {bit.ly/1qRZxg6}
My second pick would have to be going to ICE! At Gaylord! I had never been and it was an event that blew my mind. I couldn’t believe every sculpture was hand carved. It was something I will always remember, that is for sure! {bit.ly/1vyCYNK}
My third pick would be my Things I wish I would have known before becoming a mom post. It was fun stepping out of the box and talking about something different. Not to mention, I have had a few moms email me to tell me they can relate! {bit.ly/1sy8Q95}
What are you up to when not blogging?
When I am not blogging, I am playing with my 7 year old, Lydia and our crazy Maltipoo, Max! They are two peas in a pod that keep me on my toes!
What are your tips for balancing family life and blogging?
One of my tips would be to keep a schedule for the work you want to get done that day and stick to it. It is easier to work at night when the kiddo is in bed. Thankfully, I have a family that understands when “mommy” works, mommy gets paid.
Why and how do you use Sverve?
I use Sverve to connect with other bloggers and connect with companies on campaigns. I have also shared many tips and received a great amount of traffic from it.
Do you have any tips for your success on Sverve?
Connect with other bloggers and endorse them on their topics. For me about 90% of the time, hey will endorse you on yours. Share their tips and they will share back. When it comes to applying for a campaign, the form gives you an option to add a personal message. Type in that little box and add one. The brand wants to hear from you! Make it personal and not like you are just in it for a pretty penny. As bloggers, we want to feel important and recognized. As brands, they do too!
Can you share any blogging tips that have really helped you?
Consistency is the key. When you post on your blog, your dedicated readers will get used to your “schedule”. Don’t be sporadic about posting. Stay on it and stick to more than one topic. Having a variety of content has made my blog successful. I feel it has anyway. I do have some blog tutorials on my tutorial tab that you can check out!
What do you love most about blogging?
I love feeling appreciated and meeting new people. I could not tell you how many blogging friends I have met doing this. I love connecting with brands via email and social media. Blogging really has changed my life. I can pay bills and review products that I would never seen before. Blogging is “another world”. If you do not love what you do, you are doing something wrong. =)
