Hi everyone! I was thrilled when Sverve asked me to be Influencer of the Week. What an honor! They have asked me to answer a few questions so you can get to know me better. Here we go….

How did you being blogging?

I started blogging in 2007. I had been on a mothering/sewing message board for years, and frequently, shared my sewalongs, craft projects, and occasional recipes. I decided a blog was a great place to collect it all and put it one place.

How did you choose your blog’s title?

Originally I was Sewing Chick since my blog was mainly about sewing at the time. The TipToe Fairy was a sewing business I had where I made Waldorf style dolls and fancy appliqued boutique clothing and overalls on eBay. My life turned upside down in 2008, so I stopped everything. It wasn’t until 2010-11 that I came back to blogging and brought the sewing business back. However, after awhile I decided to merge everything and just be a blog with lots of fun stuff, and that’s why I dropped Sewing Chick and became The TipToe Fairy.

What are your preferred blogging topics?

I love sharing recipes. I cook all the time, and I’m always experimenting with what I’m making, so I love to share those things. I also am a craft-a-holic. I love to sew for my children, especially for creative play, so I love to share all those fun projects, too. My other favorite are book reviews. I inhale books and love to share my favorites with others.

What are your three favorite blog posts?

Romantic Date Night Treasure Hunt is one I’m really proud to have done. I pitched the idea for a sponsored post. When I got it, I was terrified! I had to make clues and plan this out. It seemed really overwhelming, but when I got into it, it was actually pretty easy. It was one of the most fun posts I’ve written.

Five Secret Tips to Better Facebook Engagement is another favorite. In the last 6 weeks, I’ve doubled my FB fans to over 8K just by following these tips I discovered. I feel like I’ve been let on a little secret and wanted to share it with everyone else.

Cream Cheese Dulce de Leche Applie Pie is another one I’m proud of. I made that recipe up in my head and then I tried it, and it was divine! On top of all that, I won a pie contest with that recipe!!

What are you up to when not blogging?

I’m either reading, binge-watching a new favorite on Netflix or Amazon, or driving my children to all their activities. Or possibly dyeing my hair a new shade of weird.

What are your tips for balancing family life and blogging?

Unless I’m under a very tight deadline, I try blog when my children are busy or sleeping. I take the laptop with me to their lessons or I stay up late or get up very early to work while they are in bed. I also have learned to stay away from the blog on the weekends.

Why and how do you use Sverve?

I learned about Sverve reading a blog, and saw a button. I use the bookmarklet to easily put my latest post on Sverve. I also check the campaigns regularly for sponsored posts.

Do you have any tips for your success on Sverve?

I think sharing other bloggers’ posts is a great way to be successful. I’ve heard the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time share other bloggers’ posts and 20% of the time share your own. I really think it works.

Can you share any blogging tips that have really helped you?

  1. Networking with other bloggers is a must. It’s not a competition.
  2. Always keep learning to improve your blog.
  3. Good lighting is the key to good photos.
  4. Join group Pinterest boards and Facebook blogger groups to get your content out there.

What do you love most about blogging?

I love the creative process. I have always been crafty, even as a girl. With blogging, I really challenge myself to come up with fun, new ideas that I’m excited to share.
