How, when & why did you being blogging?
In May of 2010 my son was born. I became a stay-at-home mom and that meant that our household went from two full-time incomes to one. I turned to couponing as a way to help with saving the money we did have. I became so good at what I did, I had many friends and family asking how I did it and that is when Bargains with Brittanie was born in June of 2012.
What are you preferred blogging topics?
Basically anything that can help save money. I regularly post about coupons, deals, freebies, money-management tips, and even host giveaways and reviews. If doing something leads to savings I post about it.
What are your three favorite blog posts?
- DIY Mickey Clubhouse Party Invitations- This was so fun to make for my son’s 3rd party. Everyone loved them. It’s also been the most repined and searched for post on my site to this day.
- Rafflecopter 101- I really dislike seeing potential winner’s being disqualified in giveaways because of dishonesty. I created a post to help discuss how to properly enter giveaways using the Rafflecopter Giveaway Widget which is what I currently use to host giveaways.
- Your Guide to Saving Money- This is not a single post but rather a series of posts that teach you how to save money. This guide has been one of the best resources for my readers and it is something I am constantly adding to.
What are you up to when not blogging?
I love to spend time with my family. It’s hard as a blogger to break away from your computer, cell phones, tablets, etc. because you don’t want to disappoint your readers or sponsors. But I really value the time I have with family especially my son who is growing up so fast. Family definitely comes first.
What are your tips for balancing family life and blogging?
Simply being organized. When you first start blogging it sort of consumes you because there is so much to learn. The key to success is being organized and be a bit OCD about it. I have about 4 different notebooks I use to schedule things, write down blogging ideas, and deal with my blogging expenses. I also schedule items on my computer’s calendar so I am able to stay on top of it all. Organizing also gives you the chance to decide what times you will and won’t be blogging to ensure you are making time for what is most important; your family.
Why and how do you use Sverve?
I use Sverve to share my money saving tips, deals, and how-to’s. I also use it to connect with other bloggers and read content on other blogs. It’s a great place to make new blogging friends and get your content shared.
Do you have any tips for your success on Sverve?
Engage with the community. Follow other bloggers, comment and like on their posts. It is so good to connect and help each other succeed.
Can you share any blogging tips that have really helped you?
Research everything. Honestly, when I started I had no idea what I was doing and knew nobody that was willing to help. I found Google and YouTube to be my friends and read and researched a lot. Once you do meet blogging friends, just ask for advice. Often times other bloggers are happy to lend a helping hand.
What do you love most about blogging?
The connections I can have with fellow bloggers, sponsors, and my readers no matter where they are within the world. It’s a great feeling.
