“Where female bloggers meet brands and readers.”

That’s the tagline for Sverve, and it sums up perfectly two significant aspects of their mission. Helping us meet brands translates into paid campaigns and affiliate opportunities.

What do we do to maximize the opportunity once accepted for a campaign though?

The most important thing to avoid is taking a passive approach to the campaign. Instead, follow these guidelines to increase your chance for a financially successful campaign for the brand and you.

  • If possible, try the product or service you will be writing about, and write a genuine review of your experience.
  • Some campaigns will provide graphics for ads to use in conjunction with the sponsored article. If one isn’t provided, ask for it. This is a second opportunity for you to convey the brand’s message to your readers.
  • Once the article is written, promote it through your various social media channels. Remember, each social media site is different. While it might come across as an unwanted, duplicate update to your Facebook friends if you post about the same thing repeatedly, the Twitter stream moves fast and warrants a message tweeted multiple times.
  • While this isn’t something to do often, sending an email to people in your address book with information about the brand and the deal is yet another way to promote an affiliate sponsor. This would best be reserved for the brands or products you are most enthusiastic about.

Whether you simply have a sponsored post to write or you are engaged in an ongoing affiliate campaign, success for both the brand and you is essential. With a happy business partner, there will be repeat campaign opportunities. And with affiliate programs, there is no limit to what can be earned. Actively work the sponsorship opportunity for a win-win business partnership. These tips will be a solid start to a successful campaign. Good luck!

I like your suggestion about asking brands for additional tools {JPEGs, links, etc.} so that I can better promote them. It’s in their best interest to comply…and help me to help them! Thanks, Kelly!
