A lot of people complain about Facebook and how it is constantly changing, but really if you know how to use your Facebook page to your advantage you can really get a lot of traffic from it and help grow your blog with it. Facebook is my top 3rd referrer to my blog and I know that’s because I have made the most out of using my Facebook page. You can too, here are 10 tips to help YOU make the most of YOUR Facebook page!
1. Fix Your Page Category. The category that you have your page set to is very important! Make sure that the category you have for your page is correct and set to “personal blog” or “business” depending on what your page is about. You can change your page’s category in your settings. This will also help people find you more easily.
2. Add Your Website Link. Most likely if you are running a Facebook page, then you probably have have a website link that you want people to click. A lot of times that link is not listed in the main description on your page, under the page’s category. You may have it in the “about” section of your page instead which means people have to click around to find it. Make sure you have it set on the main page in the description under your timeline photo. That way it’s easy to find and more people are likely to click it!
3. Post Often! One thing I tend to notice is that Facebook page owners tend to not post enough. Some say that don’t want to be annoying, but realistically, if you don’t post enough people aren’t going to see your page or your posts. People “like” your page because they want something from you. They “like” it to get updates, to get more info, or maybe even to find out more about you. No matter what their reason is, they are waiting to hear from YOU!
When you post often, you get a rise in your page traffic, your posts get seen more, and people start commenting more. I suggest posting about 5-8 times a day. Make sure your posts are not cluttered too close together, but separate them by at least an hour or two so people are not getting a news feed full of updates just from your page.
Now I know some of you are thinking, “But wait! I don’t have time for all that!” I know… no one does! That’s why you can use Facebook’s awesome scheduling feature to schedule your posts for your page. Sometimes I schedule a whole day’s worth, other times just 1 or 2 posts. You can click on the little “clock” symbol and schedule your posts for any day and hour that you want. It’s pretty amazing!
4. Find the Best Times to Post. Depending on who your fans are and when the majority of them spend time on Facebook, you will want to find the best times to post to your Facebook page. For me personally, I have found that the best times to post are between 9am-6pm Monday-Fridays. You can see from this infographic that these times are generally good for a lot of people.
5. Post Great Content! Posting great content is going to make your fans want to come back for more and it will make your page more visible to them. Make sure you post a variety of content on your Facebook page including: pictures, links, statuses, and more. Ask questions to get people commenting, post links about interesting topics, and just talk about your thoughts for the day. For example: If you blog about coupons, then you could post different links to coupons and sales items. If you blog about marriage then you could post other links of interest that have to do with love and marriage.
6. Take Advantage of Advertising. There are several different ways to advertise your Facebook page, but I have found that advertising your page to get more “likes” is the most successful. You can also pay for sponsored posts which means paying for more people to see a particular status or post. This may come in handy if you have a really important post that you need a lot of people to see. In the area of advertising it’s really going to be up to each page owner and finding out what works for you.
7. Log Into Your Page. Did you know that you can log into your Facebook page and “like” other pages and comment on them? When you do, your name shows up as your page name instead of your personal name and lets people know you are there. You get your own personal news feed just for the pages you have liked which makes it easy to keep up with other bloggers and businesses. I suggest logging in as your Facebook page to “like” other pages and to comment on them and their statuses often. This gets your page seen and helps create a relationship with other people, businesses, and bloggers. I try to like the businesses and bloggers I follow and work with as well.
8. Invite Your Friends. Have you invited every possible friend on your personal Facebook profile to “like” your Facebook page? At the top of your page there is a place that says, “build audience,” click on that then click, “invite friends”. Make sure every single person on your friend’s list has been invited! I also like to post a link to my personal profile as a reminder to my friends to “like” my page.
9. Get More “Likes.” If you are looking to get more fans on your page, try participating in more link-ups for Facebook pages. There are ones on other Facebook pages where you can tag your page, and there also some awesome ones on blogs where you can link up and get tons of new “likes”! Some blogs may offer the opportunity of co-hosting one these link-ups and that usually will get you a lot more fans. So take advantage of these when you can! If you are a blogger that likes to host giveaways, you can make it a requirement for people to “like” your Facebook page for an entry. That is another awesome way to get more Facebook fans.
10. Install Page Apps. Have you ever noticed the page apps that some Facebook pages have installed? You can find these next to where your photo albums are and can include as many as you want! I have an app that shows a feed of my recent posts, one for my Pinterest boards, and another for a welcome page. Having these apps make your page more interesting and help drive your fans toward your other social media profiles.
- Remember: The more you keep up with your Facebook page, the more people who are going to see it. The more people who see it, the more “likes” and shares you will get!
What about YOU? What are some ways you make the most of your Facebook page?

I did NOT know about the clock!! Amazing…this just made my life easier. I’ve been wondering how in the world to post consistently on FB when I’m trying to homeschool and juggle everything else. Some days I’ve gone without posting at all and other days I post often. Now I’ll be able to spread out the posts better and be more consistent. Thanks!
