How, when, and why did you being blogging?
I began blogging in 2005 as a homeschool scrapbook. I eventually came to realize the potential and bought my own domain in 2010. My blogs and online presence has grown rapidly since then!
What are your preferred blogging topics?
I write about homeschooling, parenting, and military life. My husband is in the Air Force and we just moved to Germany!
What are your favorite blog posts?
1. My 5 Days of Essential Oils Series – I offer links and resources to begin a healthy lifestyle with essential oils.
2. Moving on From Toxic Relationships – I am getting braver in sharing my struggles and heart lately
3. 31 Days of Servant Leadership series – leading like Jesus
What are you up to when not blogging?
I love to read, garden, cook, hike, and birdwatch. If I can involve my kids in those things, I am even happier.
What are your tips for balancing family life and blogging?
I try to keep to a schedule for my blogging and online work so I can give my undivided attention to my family in the mornings and evenings when they need me most. Afternoons are the kids’ playtime and my work time. Having a teenager to help is a great plus.
Why and how do you use Sverve?
I love Sverve for networking and “meeting” new bloggers. I share my posts as tips on the Sverve network and apply for sponsored opportunities that I feel will help my readers. It’s a great community of so many different blogging women from everywhere. The sponsored opportunities offer something for every kind of blogger.
Do you have any tips for your success on Sverve?
I got started on Sverve by following all the bloggers I knew. We began a sharing thread in an online group and we all followed and promoted each other to help build up our numbers. The higher the number, the more likely to get chosen for sponsor opportunities. Sharing tips and liking other Sverve members helps build a network.
Can you share any blogging tips that have really helped you?
When I began, I joined lots of social media groups with blogging tips and I read blogs and books about blogging. I also think blogging and writing conferences are a great resource for learning.
I love the generosity many bloggers exhibit for helping others. There is room in the online world for all of us. We each have our own unique perspective and there shouldn’t be petty competition. I don’t promote bloggers who aren’t generous or authentic. Some “Christian” bloggers have lost perspective and I pray I never do that.
What do you love most about blogging?
I love that I can reach the world. I love getting comments on my blog and social media telling me that I have helped someone who is experiencing a similar situation I’ve gone through. It’s about connection and I love being able to minister to others online.
