How,when &/or why did you being blogging?

I started my blog back in December 2010, I hadn’t long got my diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the idea that once again I had to battle an illness that may perhaps never go away had knocked me back into a huge depression and I needed to drag myself out of it, before I lost everything. Life in a Break Down was my place to record the good times and remember there was a little good in everyday – I never expected anyone to read it or for it to progress to where it is today.

How did you choose your blog’s title?

It was a play on words, I felt like I was very much suffering a breakdown and I wanted to break down my life into manageable bites of goodness for myself.

What are you preferred blogging topics?

Oh gosh I change from day to day, I always love talk about my pets, its always fun to write about them. I love my home so anything about that, fashion and beauty are always up my street – I like a challenge though so I’m always happy to blog about something different.

What are your three favorite blog posts?

The first two are awfully written so please forgive me – but I am proud that I managed to ‘publicly’ speak about both topics, I wrote them both late at night and on the spur of the moment, publishing as they were, I’ve never been able to face going through them to check them over properly, so I only hope they make sense and they are my posts on domestic violence and depression. The last one is a bit of a cheat as it’s a review and its recent, but I had such fun writing it as it was just a bit different and of course it allowed me to show off the guinea pigs looking all cute.

What are you up to when not blogging?

I love to swim, it’s one thing my illness still allows in moderation and of course spend time with friends, family and animals is always high on my list.

What are your tips for balancing family life and blogging?

There’s just me and my other half in my family so it’s a bit easier, I normally blog while he is at work and then we get to spend time together when he isn’t. My top tips though would be, plan and turn social media off when you’re working.

Why and how do you use Sverve?

I like to nose through peoples profiles – it’s really interesting to see what tips people have shared, which makes for a great way to find blog posts you may have otherwise missed.

Do you have any tips for your success on Sverve?

To be honest I’m not sure what I did, or how I managed it – it amazes me every day that people want to read my ramblings.

Can you share any blogging tips that have really helped you?

Be yourself – I felt once I had to fit into a niche but that isn’t me and my blog suffered for it, when I went back to writing what felt like writing things started to flow again, I guess it all comes down to making the blog around you, you can’t put a circle peg in a square hole after all.

What do you love most about blogging?

I love the community – with my illness I had felt very alone, but now I know when I can’t get out to see people I can log on and become part of the blogging community. Plus being able to express myself is such a big thing, to put type on a screen and know it comes from me is an amazing feeling.
