How did you begin blogging?
In January 2010, I decided that I wanted somewhere that I could be open and honest about parenting and not have to worry about the judgement, that most moms occur when in a face to face environment. I wanted to post my recipes, products that I liked and didn’t like. Before I knew it, my little personal blog turned into more than that, as I now host several giveaways a week, along with product reviews, as well as recipes, how-to’s, family life, and much more. Blogging has become more than just a hobby for me, it’s become a full-time job and I LOVE it.
What are you preferred blogging topics?
I’m all over the place with my blog, and while most may not like that, I do because being a parent is all over the place. Anything that pertains to being a parent, I will blog about it. It could be about women, men, kids, babies, cooking, travel, crafting, decorating, or many other topics.
What are you up to when not blogging?
When not blogging, I am spending time with my family. My husband and I started dating 15 years ago, and we have two girls, ages two and five. We like traveling, going to parks, festivals, picnics, anything that involves fun, you will find us there! I also enjoy cooking and baking!
What are your tips for balancing family life and blogging?
Make a schedule and stick to it, take a day or two off a week, and make sure you set a cut off time each day/night that you’re working. Don’t let blogging cut into your family life. I personally take weekends off, and I try to only blog while my kids are sleeping at night, napping, or they are watching a movie.
Why and how do you use Sverve?
I use Sverve to connect with brands, as well as other bloggers. I enjoy reading other bloggers tips and posts, and being able to visit their blogs directly through Sverve.
Can you share any blogging tips that have really helped you?
My blogging tips are very simple, be honest, and be you. Don’t try to be someone you aren’t. One of my other tips is make sure you are using proper English, grammar, and punctuation. That’s one of my biggest turn offs when I visit someones blog, if they don’t write well, I don’t read their blog.
What do you love most about blogging?
I love that I can be me, I can be honest, and I love helping others through my blog. I’ve received several emails about a few different posts that I’ve done, who have truly helped others. I love getting those heart warming emails and messages thanking me for being honest.
